The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Franklin Melon kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Montchaboud's zone, Jordy Cahu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Didier Le Foll came out of the goal and Jordy Cahu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 7th minute, Martial Creteur got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Montlignon's Martial Creteur got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Maurice Guillonneau fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Montchaboud's protests and gave Maurice Guillonneau a yellow card for diving instead. Maurice Guillonneau kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. If Freddy Boulain had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Didier Le Foll showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jordy Cahu in the 22nd minute of the match. A collision led to Montchaboud getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Alban Sagnes hit a great ball. Martial Creteur received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Didier Le Foll showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Jordy Cahu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Didier Le Foll having to interfere. Joey Pere received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Jean-Michel Coiffier tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Martial Creteur had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Freddy Boulain to strike the kick off in the second half. Jordy Cahu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Didier Le Foll tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 54 minutes of play Montchaboud's Maurice Guillonneau was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The supporters of Montlignon booed when Montchaboud was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Maurice Guillonneau didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Martial Creteur kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Didier Le Foll. That made the score 0-1 in the 57 minute of play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Montchaboud fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 67th minute. Penalty! When Jordy Cahu came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Montlignon fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jordy Cahu couldn't finish the play. Martial Creteur fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Didier Le Foll having to interfere. Ewan Labatut struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Didier Le Foll didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Montlignon. After 87 minutes of play, Montchaboud's Joey Pere made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jean-Michel Coiffier was left in no man's land by his defense there! 91 minutes into the game, Montchaboud's Jean-Charles Weber nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jean-Michel Coiffier made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. Despite being the better team, Montlignon failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
