Adam Dietz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Ramzy Poinas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 14 minutes into the match, Plivien's goalkeeper Bixente Freyburger had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by André Corbière. Reynald Gombert fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ramzy Poinas having to interfere. Mehdi Lhôte kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. In the 26th minute, Chris Marquer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 35th minute the ball was on its way in behind Plivien's goalkeeper Bixente Freyburger, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 36 played minutes Plivien got a freekick which was hit by Paulo Coulibaly. Reynald Gombert recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gaspard Doisy was the one to do the kick off. The audience was convinced that Paulo Coulibaly's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ramzy Poinas was relentless in the 51st minute of the game. After 56 played minutes Monteloup got a freekick which was hit by Norbert Hay. In the 59th minute the ball was on its way in behind Plivien's goalkeeper Bixente Freyburger, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 60th match minute, Plivien was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Paulo Coulibaly to maneuver through the defense. Gaspard Doisy received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Bixente Freyburger tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Plivien booed when Monteloup was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bruce Milleret didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 78th minute of the game. One of Plivien:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Monteloup:s goal. Rodrigue Piriou shot the penalty kick right outside the post. André Corbière scored 1-1 in the 81st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Bixente Freyburger, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ramzy Poinas was out of position in the 89 minute of play, and Reynald Gombert capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Reynald Gombert really showed his touch with that goal: 2-2. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
