Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Étienne Jubin got the match started through his kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felix Cazier in the 5th minute of play forced Lyon's goalkeeper Hugo Baumann to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Joaquim Barrau received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Dominique Le Calvez came out and tried to block the shot, but Joaquim Barrau slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 7th minute. Joaquim Barrau recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 13th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 14th minute, Bob Escure had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. When Jules Marimoutou fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lillers's protests and gave Jules Marimoutou a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Lillers getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Jules Marimoutou hit a great ball. Theodore Pointeau hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. In the 22nd minute of the match Gérard Clément sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Hugo Baumann skillfully saved the ball. In the 23rd minute of the match Lillers got a corner. Lyon's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gérard Clément ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 25th minute, Hippolyte Delsaut hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gérard Clément took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 26th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Hugo Baumann. Lyon's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Lyon's Hugo Baumann played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felix Cazier in the 28th minute of play. Felix Cazier received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Hugo Baumann tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pascal Berteau's late challenge caught a Lillers's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Pascal Berteau helped the player get up and apologised. After 31 played minutes Lyon got a freekick which was hit by Pascal Berteau. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Felix Cazier in the 35th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hugo Baumann prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Lyon's Joaquim Barrau got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 40th minute, Johnny Marois hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lyon were awarded a corner in the 43th minute after Lillers's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Theodore Pointeau took the corner. Joaquim Barrau sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Lillers getting a freekick after 48 minutes play. Adrien Héraud hit a great ball. Dominique Le Calvez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Theodore Pointeau in the 49th minute of the match.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Joaquim Barrau was the one to do the kick off. After 52 minutes, César Tonon mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lillers and the Lyon players grew even worse after the yellow card. César Tonon kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Dominique Le Calvez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joaquim Barrau in the 62nd minute of play. Jules Marimoutou kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. In the 65th minute Joaquim Barrau shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dominique Le Calvez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hippolyte Delsaut received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Dominique Le Calvez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Joaquim Barrau recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Felix Cazier sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Étienne Jubin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Felix Cazier might have been able to make a better finish in the 84th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hugo Baumann. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Felix Cazier ran back to his position shaking his head. 92 minutes into the match, Felix Cazier had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Hugo Baumann. Lyon's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Felix Cazier was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. Felix Cazier struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Hugo Baumann didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lillers. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Lillers eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
