Vedene's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Publier the free kick. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Florian Dhondt managed to get in a good position for a shot. Publier's supporters rose to their feet, but Florian Dhondt was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Axel Zaoui breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Vedene booed when Publier was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Donatien Pouteau didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 29th minute the ball was on its way in behind Vedene's goalkeeper Axel Zaoui, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The referee ignored Vedene's protests and gave Daniel Wehrle a yellow card for diving instead. After 72 played minutes Vedene got a freekick which was hit by Daniel Wehrle. In the 76th minute, Vedene's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Darren Tonnerre fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Lucien Berthod fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Axel Zaoui having to interfere. A collision led to Publier getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Darren Tonnerre hit a great ball. If Raoul Reinert had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 89th match minute, Publier was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Éloi Blondet to maneuver through the defense. Samy Boussuge took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Raoul Reinert, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Vedene fans cheered their team off the field, for while Publier had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
