The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Herbert Delos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 5th minute, Joël Droguet hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Clem Mougenot showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Herbert Delos, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alain Gris during the 9th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Harfleur booed when Castagniers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alain Gris didn't get a good kick on the ball. 12 minutes into the match, Castagniers's goal looked a bit too open when Renan Vachon came free, but Diego Filippi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 18 minutes into the match, Castagniers's goalkeeper Diego Filippi had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Olivier Ledez. Olivier Ledez could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Diego Filippi made a huge save. Alain Gris got his second yellow card in the match during the 22nd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Alain Gris hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. 25 minutes into the game, Olivier Ledez was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Harfleur's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Castagniers the free kick. After a rather tough play, Harfleur's Olivier Ledez got a free kick in the 25th minute. If Joël Droguet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Clem Mougenot didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mathieu Delalandre went, in the 36th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Joël Droguet hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. If Olivier Ledez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Castagniers's Diego Filippi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Olivier Ledez in the 60th minute of play. After having played for 66 minutes, Olivier Ledez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Harfleur's supporters crossed their fingers, but Olivier Ledez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Olivier Ledez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Diego Filippi having to interfere. Diego Filippi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Olivier Ledez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 76th match minute, Castagniers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Martin Darmon to maneuver through the defense. 77 minutes into the match, Castagniers's goal looked a bit too open when Olivier Ledez came free, but Diego Filippi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Olivier Ledez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Olivier Ledez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Olivier Ledez came up free with the goalie in the 100th minute, the Harfleur fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Olivier Ledez couldn't finish the play. The Harfleur supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Castagniers's performance. The match ended with a win for Castagniers.
