The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 4 played minutes Moise Liberge rounded Vedene's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-0. When Vedene's Abdel Canonne in the 10th minute got a chance for a shot 10th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Montferrand's goalie prevented a goal. The referee showed Alain Chirat the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 27th match minute, Vedene was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Abdel Canonne to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Vedene booed when Montferrand was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Louis Sartori didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Karim Madiot had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Montferrand's Boris Lecanu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abdel Canonne in the 42nd minute of play. When Karim Madiot came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the Vedene fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Karim Madiot couldn't finish the play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Moise Liberge made the kick off in the second half. In the 58th minute, Moise Liberge ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Junior Pretot was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. 62 minutes into the match, Montferrand's goalkeeper Boris Lecanu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Karim Madiot. Boris Lecanu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abdel Canonne, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 64th minute, Gérald Coquel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 72ndth minute of the game Abdel Canonne who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Montferrand's Boris Lecanu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Boris Lecanu was out of position in the 74 minute of play, and Karim Madiot capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Karim Madiot really showed his touch with that goal: 3-1. The audience was convinced that Abdel Canonne's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Boris Lecanu was relentless in the 77th minute of the game. Louis Sartori kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. In the 88th minute, one of Montferrand:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Montferrand. The referee gave Vedene a penalty, 90 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Alain Chirat, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Montferrand's Boris Lecanu. 3-2. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Montferrand had won after a very even match.
