The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 9 minutes into the match, Rudy Baran had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gildas Lambinet. Grigny's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rudy Baran was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. If Rudy Baran had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 14th match minute, Avouzon was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cyril Boé to maneuver through the defense. After 17 minutes, Luka Schuller made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Avouzon's Anthony Bès tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After 21 played minutes Grigny got a freekick which was hit by Xavier Guillo. Alou Dautel recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Anthony Bès showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luka Schuller in the 28th minute of the match. Rudy Baran scored 2-2 in the 33rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gildas Lambinet, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alou Dautel in the 38th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gildas Lambinet prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 39 played minutes Grigny got a freekick which was hit by Walter Laville. Avouzon's Rudy Baran got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Alou Dautel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gildas Lambinet having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Luka Schuller to strike the kick off in the second half. After 51 minutes, Harold Camy mouthed his way into the referee's book. But to his dismay, Luka Schuller quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-2. Arthur Lavabre received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute.
