The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Bixente Vermorel fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vallauris's protests and gave Bixente Vermorel a yellow card for diving instead. 10 minutes into the game, one of Vallauris:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave Vayres a penalty, 11 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Ange Terrade, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Vallauris's Eden Salaün. 0-1. After 17 minutes of play, Vayres's Amaury Périchon made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Eden Salaün was left in no man's land by his defense there! 21 minutes into the match, Vayres's goal looked a bit too open when Jackson Danjou came free, but Jean-Yves Theobald reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rachid Vigroux struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Eden Salaün didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vayres. In the 30th minute, Vayres's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Léon Tétard fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Jean-Yves Theobald showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jackson Danjou in the 32nd minute of the match. Denis Hugel's late challenge caught a Vallauris's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Denis Hugel helped the player get up and apologised. In the 33rd minute, Denis Hugel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Amaury Périchon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Eden Salaün tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Rachid Vigroux had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The audience was convinced that Amaury Périchon's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Eden Salaün was relentless in the 60th minute of the game. With a little luck, Vallauris's Eden Salaün got control of the ball when Rachid Vigroux tried to sneak it across the goal line. Marc Guillet charged in rather forcefully in the 65th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Marc Guillet the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Vallauris's Marc Guillet got a free kick in the 66th minute. If Jackson Danjou had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Vallauris's Jackson Danjou in the 76th minute got a chance for a shot 76th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Vayres's goalie prevented a goal. If Jackson Danjou had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eden Salaün made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rachid Vigroux in the 84th minute. 85 minutes into the match, Amaury Périchon dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Eden Salaün, 0-3. Florentin Bel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Jean-Yves Theobald tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 92 played minutes Vallauris got a freekick which was hit by Florentin Bel. 95 minutes into the match, Vayres's goal looked a bit too open when Léon Tétard came free, but Jean-Yves Theobald reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Vayres supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Vayres would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
