Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Dan Guilmin kicked off to start the match. Californie's John-David Blind played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dan Guilmin in the 3rd minute of play. In the 5th minute, Auguste Jonquet got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Auguste Jonquet fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John-David Blind having to interfere. Auguste Jonquet received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. John-David Blind tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Vénissieux defense, Mathys Méheust kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jean-Christophe Decourt. The Vénissieux fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jean-Christophe Decourt should have stopped the shot. When Auguste Jonquet came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Vénissieux fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Auguste Jonquet couldn't finish the play. After 20 played minutes Californie got a freekick which was hit by Pierre-Loup May. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Auguste Jonquet in the 22nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck John-David Blind prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Dan Guilmin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Dan Guilmin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John-David Blind having to interfere. If Mathys Méheust had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jérôme Poullain received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Jean-Christophe Decourt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 37 minutes into the game, Ulysse Martens was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Vénissieux's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Californie the free kick. The supporters of Californie booed when Vénissieux was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ulysse Martens didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jean-Christophe Decourt came out of the goal in the 40th minute to try and stop a shot by Californie's Jérôme Poullain. But to his dismay, Jérôme Poullain quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. In the 44th minute Auguste Jonquet shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but John-David Blind saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 49 minutes into the match, Dan Guilmin had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of John-David Blind. Californie's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dan Guilmin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Mathys Méheust was the one to do the kick off. Californie's John-David Blind played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dan Guilmin in the 56th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dan Guilmin in the 58th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck John-David Blind prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Californie's Prosper Réveillère got a free kick in the 59th minute. Auguste Jonquet hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. In the 63rd minute, Mathys Méheust left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Californie fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. After 68 minutes, Charlie Zanetti mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Californie and the Vénissieux players grew even worse after the yellow card. Charlie Zanetti kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. Californie's John-David Blind played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dan Guilmin in the 72nd minute of play. John-David Blind made a fantastic save in the 75th minute, when Auguste Jonquet sent off a good shot on target. Jean-Christophe Decourt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mathys Méheust in the 76th minute of the match. Mathys Méheust sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Californie were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Vénissieux for a fine match.
