Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Dan Guilmin started the match with the kick off. Tommy Cabaret received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Jean-Christophe Decourt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Auguste Jonquet fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jules Cozic having to interfere. Yvan Leboeuf hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. If Noel Agnel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Ulysse Rahmani might have been able to make a better finish in the 18th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jean-Christophe Decourt. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ulysse Rahmani ran back to his position shaking his head. Brest's Noel Agnel got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 28th minute the ball was on its way in behind Vénissieux's goalkeeper Jean-Christophe Decourt, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 29th match minute, Vénissieux was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Igor Dupret to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 30 minutes, Noel Agnel managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Brest's supporters crossed their fingers, but Noel Agnel was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Auguste Jonquet managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vénissieux's supporters rose to their feet, but Auguste Jonquet was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jules Cozic breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The crowd rose to their feet as Dan Guilmin kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Jules Cozic. That made the score 1-0 in the 34 minute of play. Dan Guilmin received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Jules Cozic came out and tried to block the shot, but Dan Guilmin slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 46th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
The wind increased when Noel Agnel made the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Brest's goal looked a bit too open when Dan Guilmin came free, but Jules Cozic reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 57th minute Auguste Jonquet shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jules Cozic saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 59 minutes into the match, Dan Guilmin notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Brest's Jules Cozic. Jules Cozic was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Jules Cozic showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dan Guilmin, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. With a little luck, Vénissieux's Jean-Christophe Decourt got control of the ball when Tommy Cabaret tried to sneak it across the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ulysse Martens during the 71st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Brest's Noel Agnel got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Noel Agnel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Jean-Christophe Decourt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Brest's Jules Cozic played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dan Guilmin in the 78th minute of play. Dan Guilmin struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Jules Cozic didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vénissieux. Vénissieux's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
