Avignon's Romeo Belloir played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jean-Sébastien Tosello in the 3rd minute of play. In the 5th minute, Steve Cave got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 6th minute, Sebastien Blanckaert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 7 minutes, Steve Cave mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Martinsart and the Avignon players grew even worse after the yellow card. Steve Cave kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. After 13 played minutes Martinsart got a freekick which was hit by Faudel Largilliere. Jean-Pierre Rameaux showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Donald Paquereau, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Steve Cave received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Romeo Belloir tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jean-Sébastien Tosello might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Romeo Belloir. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jean-Sébastien Tosello ran back to his position shaking his head. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sebastien Blanckaert during the 26th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 29 minutes into the match, Martinsart's goal looked a bit too open when Jean-Paul Gindre came free, but Jean-Pierre Rameaux reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 30 minutes, Donald Paquereau managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Avignon's supporters crossed their fingers, but Donald Paquereau was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Daniel Michalon hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. In the 34th minute, Jean-Sébastien Tosello got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Steve Cave struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Romeo Belloir didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Martinsart. Jean-Pierre Rameaux showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jean-Paul Gindre in the 37th minute of the match. Donald Paquereau sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 43rd match minute, Martinsart was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nathanaël Jimenez to maneuver through the defense. 46 minutes into the game, Jean-Paul Gindre was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Avignon's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Martinsart the free kick. Jean-Paul Gindre kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. Steve Cave received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Romeo Belloir tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

In the 67th minute, Jean-Paul Gindre got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Martinsart getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Marouane Mallet hit a great ball. In the 71st minute Donald Paquereau shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jean-Pierre Rameaux saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jean-Pierre Rameaux made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Donald Paquereau in the 77th minute of play. Jean-Paul Gindre could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 79th minute of the match, but Jean-Pierre Rameaux made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jean-Sébastien Tosello in the 87th minute of play forced Avignon's goalkeeper Romeo Belloir to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 92nd minute Steve Cave shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Romeo Belloir saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Martinsart fans' excitement grew in the 94th match minute when Martinsart's Jean-Sébastien Tosello looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Martinsart had won after a very even match.
