Bruges's Pierre Duroux got a good chance for a goal in the 3rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Pierre Duroux struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Marvin Roset didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bruges. Leonard Dorange took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kevin Horel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Sofiane Decker had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Bruges's zone, Kevin Horel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leonard Dorange came out of the goal and Kevin Horel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sofiane Decker in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Leonard Dorange saved Bruges from getting behind. Leonard Dorange showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sofiane Decker, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Steven Dekeyser hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Bruges defense, Sofiane Decker kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Leonard Dorange. The Bruges fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Leonard Dorange should have stopped the shot. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

After 69 played minutes Fabregas got a freekick which was hit by Cesar Greiner. In the 71st minute of the match Edgard Warin shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Marvin Roset showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Pierre Duroux recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Francois-Xavier Mazel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marvin Roset having to interfere. 82 minutes into the match, Fabregas's goal looked a bit too open when Pierre Duroux came free, but Marvin Roset reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 82 minutes into the game, David Dumontier was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Fabregas's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bruges the free kick. In the 83rd match minute, Fabregas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by David Dumontier to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Fabregas's Sofiane Decker got a free kick in the 87th minute. If Pierre Duroux had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Damien Freulon during the 94th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Damien Freulon kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Fabregas walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
