After a defensive mix-up in Istres's zone, Marius Broche stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jean-Charles Fillon came out of the goal and Marius Broche tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Marius Broche struck a weak shot in the 9th minute. Jean-Charles Fillon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Buchêne. Victorien Boissonnet's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Leon Loreau read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 14th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Istres's zone, Noel Mesnier stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jean-Charles Fillon came out of the goal and Noel Mesnier tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jean-Charles Fillon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marius Broche, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. After 19 played minutes Istres got a freekick which was hit by Erwin Beroud. Jean-Charles Fillon made an important save on a dangerous shot by Noel Mesnier in the 29th minute. Ramzi Diss hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. The supporters of Istres booed when Buchêne was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Yves Drouet didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 33 minutes, Victorien Boissonnet made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Buchêne's Leon Loreau tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Leon Loreau took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Djimmy Blaison, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Noel Mesniers short, quick shot in the 43rdth minute got Jean-Charles Fillon to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. When Octave Legrand fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Istres's protests and gave Octave Legrand a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Buchêne booed when Istres was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Octave Legrand didn't get a good kick on the ball. Leon Loreau showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Djimmy Blaison in the 48th minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Marius Broche stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Noel Mesnier managed to get in a good position for a shot. Buchêne's supporters rose to their feet, but Noel Mesnier was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jean-Charles Fillon breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 54th minute Noel Mesnier shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jean-Charles Fillon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 58th minute, Malcom Carrel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Leon Loreau was out of position in the 60 minute of play, and Djimmy Blaison capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Djimmy Blaison really showed his touch with that goal: 0-2. 64 minutes into the match, Buchêne's goalkeeper Leon Loreau had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Victorien Boissonnet. In the 68th minute, Erwin Beroud hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 72nd minute, Buchêne's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Victorien Boissonnet fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Leon Loreau made a fantastic save in the 75th minute, when Victorien Boissonnet sent off a good shot on target. Jean-Charles Fillon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Noel Mesnier, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. The audience was convinced that Noel Mesnier's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jean-Charles Fillon was relentless in the 81st minute of the game.
