The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Donovan Génard in the 3rd minute of play forced Etiolles's goalkeeper Malik Avenel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Flavien Blavette scored 0-1 in the 4th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ahmed Lavocat, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Philippe Havet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Malik Avenel made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Yoann Thomann sent off a good shot on target. Philippe Havet might have been able to make a better finish in the 24th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ahmed Lavocat. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Philippe Havet ran back to his position shaking his head. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gauthier Pioche during the 25th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Gauthier Pioche hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. When Luc Roca fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bassens's protests and gave Luc Roca a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Bassens's Luc Roca got a free kick in the 28th minute. 31 minutes into the match, Etiolles's goalkeeper Malik Avenel had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Yoann Thomann. Bassens's Ahmed Lavocat played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Michel Delaitre in the 44th minute of play. Flavien Blavette struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Ahmed Lavocat didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Etiolles. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Darren Dechaume to strike the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Michel Delaitre during the 51st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Michel Delaitre hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. Malik Avenel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Yoann Thomann's shot from short distance in the 53rd minute. In the 54th minute, Darren Dechaume made a precise shot to the right of Malik Avenel. Etiolles's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. After a defensive mix-up in Bassens's zone, Michel Delaitre stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ahmed Lavocat came out of the goal and Michel Delaitre tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpected shot in the 61st minute by Flavien Blavette got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After having played for 62 minutes, Philippe Havet managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Etiolles's supporters crossed their fingers, but Philippe Havet was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 69 minutes into the match, Etiolles's goal looked a bit too open when Darren Dechaume came free, but Malik Avenel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Etiolles booed when Bassens was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Yoann Thomann didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 75 minutes, Yoann Thomann managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bassens's supporters crossed their fingers, but Yoann Thomann was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Igor Cavallo in the 85th minute of play forced Etiolles's goalkeeper Malik Avenel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Philippe Havet's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ahmed Lavocat read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 91st minute of play. The Etiolles supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Etiolles would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
