Spectators: 35 (Terracing: 27, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Modeste Stalin started the match with the kick off. Modeste Stalin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Dylan Gaulier took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 7th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Franck Chollet. Rennes's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 8th minute, Modeste Stalin left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Claira fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. After having played for 12 minutes, Hugo Barral managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Claira's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hugo Barral was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Claira's zone, Jean-Christophe Prades stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Roger Brisard came out of the goal and Jean-Christophe Prades tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, Claira's Roger Brisard got control of the ball when Jean-Marie Vallet tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, Rennes's Emmanuel Hachet got a free kick in the 26th minute. When Jean-Christophe Prades came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Rennes fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jean-Christophe Prades couldn't finish the play. The crowd rose to their feet as Jean-Christophe Prades kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Roger Brisard. That made the score 1-1 in the 39 minute of play. Roger Brisard took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jean-Christophe Prades, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 44th minute, Stanislas Pailhes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jean-Marie Vallet fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roger Brisard having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Florentin Joulie in the 48th minute of play forced Claira's goalkeeper Roger Brisard to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Modeste Stalin's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Franck Chollet read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 54th minute of play. Rennes's defense didn't have a chance, in the 59th minute, when Modeste Stalin scored to the left of an out of position Franck Chollet, making the score, 1-2. Hugo Barral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Franck Chollet having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Modeste Stalin in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Franck Chollet saved Rennes from getting behind. When the match had gone on for 74 minutes, Jean-Christophe Prades put it in 2-2 from a short distance just to the right of Roger Brisard. A collision led to Rennes getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Jean-Marie Vallet hit a great ball. Modeste Stalin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Rennes's Franck Chollet played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Modeste Stalin in the 82nd minute of play. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind Rennes's goalkeeper Franck Chollet, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Franck Chollet stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Modeste Stalin's shot from short distance in the 87th minute. Ibrahim Segond hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
