But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nathan Souchet couldn't finish the play. Pouleina's Maurice Frick proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save Pouleina from getting a goal against them. If Jean-Philippe Benezet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Romuald Cau during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Pouleina eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
