Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Sylvain Lannoy started the match with the kick off. Mondelange's Gilbert Sebert shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 11th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Honoré Lasalle but with some difficulty. Honoré Lasalle didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 13th minute, which inside left pole to 1-0. The supporters of Mondelange booed when Nivelle was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Serge Mutel didn't get a good kick on the ball. 22 minutes into the game, one of Nivelle:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Germain Guittard shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Bernard Février kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. Zinedine Darde struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Honoré Lasalle didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mondelange. After a defensive mix-up in Mondelange's zone, Jean-Philippe Cosnefroy stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jean-Philippe Comtet came out of the goal and Jean-Philippe Cosnefroy tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 36th minute, one of Mondelange:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Mondelange. The referee gave Nivelle a penalty, 38 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Valérien Vivet, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Mondelange's Jean-Philippe Comtet. 1-2. If Émilien Curt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 47th minute Reda Le Cunff shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Honoré Lasalle saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Reda Le Cunff made the kick off in the second half. If Jean-Philippe Cosnefroy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mondelange's Jean-Philippe Comtet played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sylvain Lannoy in the 56th minute of play. Sylvain Lannoy received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Jean-Philippe Comtet tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 61 minutes into the game, Serge Prosper was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mondelange's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Nivelle the free kick. Valérien Vivet, 62 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. In the 65th minute Sylvain Lannoy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jean-Philippe Comtet saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 70th minute of the match, Jean-Philippe Cosnefroy got a very nice opportunity to score, but Jean-Philippe Comtet was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Jean-Philippe Cosnefroy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jean-Philippe Comtet didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 75th minute, which inside left pole to 1-3. 83 minutes into the match, Nivelle's goal looked a bit too open when Reda Le Cunff came free, but Honoré Lasalle reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Mondelange's Zinedine Darde in the 86th minute got a chance for a shot 86th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Sylvain Lannoy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jean-Philippe Comtet having to interfere. Serge Prosper fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Honoré Lasalle having to interfere. When the match was over Nivelle could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Mondelange throughout the match.
