In the 3rd minute, César Guéneau hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cyril Grard sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jean-Charles Paineau blasted a shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Claude Vienne having to make a save. After a defensive mix-up in Bouquiniére's zone, Billy Ferriere stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Guillaume Marty came out of the goal and Billy Ferriere tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cyril Piot received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Guillaume Marty tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 13th minute, Billy Ferriere got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cyril Grard was extremely unlucky when he, in the 22nd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Moise Peret hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Ahmid Brulin took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 29th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Claude Vienne. Montbazon's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 36th match minute, Bouquiniére was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Élie Blanckaert to maneuver through the defense. If Cyril Piot had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cyril Piot's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Guillaume Marty read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 42nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Billy Ferriere in the 47th minute of play forced Bouquiniére's goalkeeper Guillaume Marty to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Claude Vienne showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cyril Grard in the 56th minute of the match. Claude Vienne showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jean-Charles Paineau, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. After 57 played minutes Montbazon got a freekick which was hit by Pascal Pawlak. Cyril Grard fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Claude Vienne having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jean-Charles Paineau in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Claude Vienne saved Montbazon from getting behind. Billy Ferriere sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 71st minute Jean-Charles Paineau shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Claude Vienne saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 73 minutes into the game, Bouquiniére's Jean-Charles Paineau nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Claude Vienne made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. With a little luck, Bouquiniére's Guillaume Marty got control of the ball when Billy Ferriere tried to sneak it across the goal line.
