An unexpectedly hard shot by Clement Lebleu in the 10th minute of play forced Coutillas's goalkeeper Tom Piot to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Clem Boissin's late challenge caught a Rancenay's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Clem Boissin helped the player get up and apologised. Clem Boissin kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Salomon Plasse got free with Tom Piot in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Coutillas's Clem Boissin got his second yellow card of the match in the 14th minute. The referee ordered Clem Boissin off the ground. The penalty shot was made by Johan Vermeersch, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Rancenay's Richard Rahmani. 0-1. Felicien Rocher kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Jean-Baptiste Giffard's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Richard Rahmani read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 34th minute of play. Felicien Rocher sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After some fancy dribbling in the 51st minute, Salomon Plasse managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rancenay's supporters rose to their feet, but Salomon Plasse was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tom Piot breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Clement Lebleu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Coutillas's Tom Piot played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Clement Lebleu in the 57th minute of play. Maurice Duplan shot the penalty kick right outside the post. Jean-Baptiste Giffard sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. After a rather tough play, Coutillas's Jérôme Noiret got a free kick in the 88th minute. 97 minutes into the match, Coutillas's goal looked a bit too open when Salomon Plasse came free, but Tom Piot reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Coutillas had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
