Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Freddy Morineau in the 6th minute of play forced Seclin's goalkeeper Gaetan Desportes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 8th minute of the match Valenciennes got a corner. Seclin's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Eliott Marty ran over to the corner to take the kick. Valenciennes's Eliott Marty was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Gaetan Desportes in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Harry Fauconnier received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Ramzy Ferretti tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Seclin's Harry Fauconnier slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ramzy Ferretti. That made the score 1-0 after 14 minutes of play. When Celestin Deve came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the Seclin fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Celestin Deve couldn't finish the play. Freddy Morineau received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Gaetan Desportes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Seclin's goalkeeper Gaetan Desportes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Celestin Deve hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. Dylan Lesourd struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. Gaetan Desportes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Valenciennes. In the 40th minute, Pierre-Olivier Barbereau got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Valenciennes booed when Seclin was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mehdi Linard didn't get a good kick on the ball. Freddy Morineau fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gaetan Desportes having to interfere. Dylan Lesourd sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Freddy Morineau to make the kick off. Ramzy Ferretti showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Celestin Deve, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. Ramzy Ferretti took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Celestin Deve, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ramzy Ferretti showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Harry Fauconnier in the 65th minute of the match. In the 69th minute Celestin Deve shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ramzy Ferretti saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Mohamed Bartoli fell near the penalty area in the 70th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Seclin's protests and gave Mohamed Bartoli a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Seclin getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Mohamed Bartoli hit a great ball. Dylan Lesourds short, quick shot in the 71stth minute got Gaetan Desportes to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Harry Fauconnier struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Ramzy Ferretti didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Seclin. After having played for 79 minutes, Celestin Deve managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Seclin's supporters crossed their fingers, but Celestin Deve was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 80 minutes, Pierre-Olivier Barbereau mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Valenciennes and the Seclin players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 80th match minute, Valenciennes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pierre-Olivier Barbereau to maneuver through the defense. In the 81st minute, Harry Fauconnier got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Celestin Deve fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ramzy Ferretti having to interfere. In the 93rd minute Mehdi Linard shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ramzy Ferretti saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Valenciennes's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
