In the 36th minute, Freddy Morineau got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Valenciennes's zone, Gregoire Marchat stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ramzy Ferretti came out of the goal and Gregoire Marchat tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Freddy Morineau was the one to do the kick off. Freddy Morineau fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Malcom Goron having to interfere. In the 53rd minute, Franck Longo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Pierre-Olivier Barbereau kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Steevy Bruley kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. Dylan Lesourd received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Malcom Goron tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 74 minutes into the match, Dylan Lesourd notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Cavernes's Malcom Goron. Malcom Goron was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Cyprien Lepretre charged in rather forcefully in the 79th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cyprien Lepretre the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Cyprien Lepretre hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Valenciennes's Clément Collin got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Gregoire Marchat sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 96 minutes, Freddy Morineau made it 3-0 with a short kick to the right side. Cavernes's Malcom Goron tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. For all the effort they put into the match, the Cavernes players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Valenciennes.
