In the 9th minute the ball was on its way in behind Communay's goalkeeper Felix Villeger, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Felix Villeger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kevan Moreno in the 12th minute of the match. After 15 minutes, Charles-Henri Pionnier mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Communay and the Reims players grew even worse after the yellow card. Charles-Henri Pionnier hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Communay's zone, Kevan Moreno stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Felix Villeger came out of the goal and Kevan Moreno tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kevan Moreno in the 18th minute of play forced Communay's goalkeeper Felix Villeger to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Reims's Reynald Nicoud played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leonard Hoff in the 26th minute of play. After some careless play in the Reims defense, Herve Langlais kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Reynald Nicoud. The Reims fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Reynald Nicoud should have stopped the shot. Reynald Nicoud made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Herve Langlais sent off a good shot on target. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jarod Lancelot in the 38th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Felix Villeger saved Communay from getting behind. Kevan Moreno fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Felix Villeger having to interfere. After 48 played minutes Reims got a freekick which was hit by Daniel Pellan. Communay were awarded a corner in the 51th minute after Reims's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Yves Delpuech took the corner. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Kevan Moreno sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Reims's Jarod Lancelot got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jarod Lancelot fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Felix Villeger having to interfere. Felix Villeger made a fantastic save in the 66th minute, when Kevan Moreno sent off a good shot on target. If Jarod Lancelot had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Communay's Felix Villeger proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 80th minute of the match, managed to save Communay from getting a goal against them. Kevan Moreno struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Felix Villeger didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Reims. Kevan Moreno's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 86thth minute, Felix Villeger skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After 87 played minutes Communay got a freekick which was hit by Igor Lescop. Communay's Felix Villeger proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 89th minute of the match, managed to save Communay from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jarod Lancelot in the 91st minute of play forced Communay's goalkeeper Felix Villeger to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Kevan Moreno came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Reims fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kevan Moreno couldn't finish the play. The Communay support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
