Noves's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Zimmersheim the free kick. When the match had gone on for 20 minutes, Marcel Gasparini took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Joris Grolier to make any attempt to save it. Erwin Chautard was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 23 minutes into the match. Marcel Gasparini received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Joris Grolier tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Marcel Gasparini's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Joris Grolier read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 31st minute of play. In the 32nd minute, Marcel Gasparini got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jean-Francois Pelisson's late challenge caught a Noves's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jean-Francois Pelisson helped the player get up and apologised. In the 36th minute, Jean-Francois Pelisson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Gerard Prost came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Noves fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gerard Prost couldn't finish the play. Marcel Gasparini sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 2-0 became the score in the 46th minute when Ronan Jacquot elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ronan Jacquot was the one to do the kick off. 54 minutes into the match, Zimmersheim's goalkeeper Francis Saint-Paul had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gerard Prost. With his leg Francis Saint-Paul managed to avoid a goal in the 59thth minute, when Noves's Gerard Prost fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The supporters of Noves booed when Zimmersheim was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Yvan Lartigue didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 73 played minutes Noves got a freekick which was hit by Berenger Mazard. In the 74th minute, Yvan Lartigue sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Noves's Joris Grolier didn't even have to move. Ronan Jacquot sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Joris Grolier took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcel Gasparini, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Noves's Hugues Porcheron got a free kick in the 83rd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Noves's zone, Ronan Jacquot stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joris Grolier came out of the goal and Ronan Jacquot tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 86th minute, Ronan Jacquot left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Zimmersheim fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. Danny Longin hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. After 96 minutes, Florian Chantereau mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Zimmersheim and the Noves players grew even worse after the yellow card. Florian Chantereau kicked well hit freekick during the 97th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Zimmersheim had won after a very even match.
