Reynald Guilmin started the match with the kick off. 3 minutes into the match, Charles-Emmanuel Graveleau notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Chanteloup's Harry Legentil. Harry Legentil was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a rather tough play, Bordeaux's Philippe Buche got a free kick in the 6th minute. Sacha Malhomme succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-1 in the 9th playminute. With a little luck, Bordeaux's Patxi Garret got control of the ball when Sacha Malhomme tried to sneak it across the goal line. Harry Legentil didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Charles-Emmanuel Graveleau went, in the 16th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. If Donald Laumond had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Harry Legentil stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Charles-Emmanuel Graveleau's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. After having played for 23 minutes, Reynald Guilmin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chanteloup's supporters crossed their fingers, but Reynald Guilmin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Chanteloup booed when Bordeaux was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. An unexpectedly hard shot by Charles-Emmanuel Graveleau in the 41st minute of play forced Chanteloup's goalkeeper Harry Legentil to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bordeaux's Donald Laumond got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Charles-Emmanuel Graveleau made a kick off. When Bertrand Hérisson fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bordeaux's protests and gave Bertrand Hérisson a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 51st minute of the game. One of Bordeaux:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Chanteloup:s goal. Patxi Garret showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Reynald Guilmin in the 60th minute of the match. Joachim Baille charged in rather forcefully in the 61st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. In the 81st minute Reynald Guilmin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Patxi Garret saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Reynald Guilmin's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Patxi Garret read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 82nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Reynald Guilmin in the 85th minute of play forced Bordeaux's goalkeeper Patxi Garret to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Reynald Guilmin in the 88th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Patxi Garret saved Bordeaux from getting behind. Reynald Guilmin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Sacha Malhomme fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patxi Garret having to interfere.
