The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 5 played minutes Dunkerque got a freekick which was hit by Rodrigo Delobel. Joël Houssaye scored 0-1 in the 6th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of René Garrigou, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Pierre-Olivier Servel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. René Garrigou tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Joël Houssaye managed to get in a good position for a shot. Prenay's supporters rose to their feet, but Joël Houssaye was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. René Garrigou breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Joël Houssaye had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ange Pissot received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Nathan Couzon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nathan Couzon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ange Pissot in the 24th minute of play. Ange Pissot sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ange Pissot's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nathan Couzon read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Darren Chaulet during the 45th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 45th match minute, Prenay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Darren Chaulet to maneuver through the defense. The Dunkerque players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Prenay were winning 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ange Pissot to make the kick off. Joël Houssaye received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. René Garrigou tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 53rd minute of the game. One of Dunkerque:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Prenay:s goal. The goalkeeper, René Garrigou, was totally fooled by Prenay's Eugène Koehler, who 55 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. After 73 minutes, Eddy Fraysse mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Prenay and the Dunkerque players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Dunkerque booed when Prenay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eddy Fraysse didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tristan Gaborit fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nathan Couzon having to interfere. Ange Pissot sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 84th match minute, Prenay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Darren Chaulet to maneuver through the defense. Nathan Couzon didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Tristan Gaborit went, in the 85th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Nathan Couzon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ange Pissot, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Prenay eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
