Terry Grison kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. In the 3rd minute of the match Hugues Tison sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Pavel Chivu skillfully saved the ball. In the 6th minute Hugues Tison shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pavel Chivu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Hugues Tison had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jochen Sommerhalder could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but Jean-Cyrille Valdenaire made a huge save. Terry Grison kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. When Emanuel Munhoz fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Strasbourg ★ Union RC's protests and gave Emanuel Munhoz a yellow card for diving instead. Emanuel Munhoz kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. If Jochen Sommerhalder had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 22 minutes into the match, massïlia's Jochen Sommerhalder sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jean-Cyrille Valdenaire narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of Strasbourg ★ Union RC booed when massïlia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Murillo Kepa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pavel Chivu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hugues Tison in the 47th minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jochen Sommerhalder to strike the kick off in the second half. Hugues Tison could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Pavel Chivu made a huge save. Jochen Sommerhalder sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 59 minutes into the match, Strasbourg ★ Union RC's goal looked a bit too open when Jochen Sommerhalder came free, but Jean-Cyrille Valdenaire reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Terry Grison kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. Jean-Cyrille Valdenaire showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jochen Sommerhalder in the 77th minute of the match. In the 80th minute Nik Tamer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pavel Chivu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jochen Sommerhalder fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jean-Cyrille Valdenaire having to interfere. Emanuel Munhoz got his second yellow card in the match during the 88th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Emanuel Munhoz hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match.
