Poul Gunnarsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Poul Tórgarð showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Øssur Jacobsen in the 21st minute of the match. In the 22nd minute of the match, Øssur Jacobsen tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Poul Tórgarð saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Heini Thorleifsson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Skælingur's supporters rose to their feet, but Heini Thorleifsson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Heini Thorleifsson was the one to do the kick off. When Bergur Færø came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the Skælingur fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bergur Færø couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Heini Thorleifsson in the 56th minute of play forced Skálafjørður's goalkeeper Poul Gunnarsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Bergur Færø had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Poul Gunnarsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Heini Thorleifsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Øssur Jacobsen struck a weak shot in the 64th minute. Poul Tórgarð didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Skálafjørður. After 69 minutes, Jónhard í Skorini mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Skálafjørður and the Skælingur players grew even worse after the yellow card. Poul Gunnarsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Heini Thorleifsson in the 95th minute of play. The Skælingur supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Skælingur would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
