Venceslao Navas who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 15thth minute tested the skills of Gorri Pastor when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Venceslao Navas's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Gorri Pastor firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 24th minute José Nafría shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gorri Pastor saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 46 minutes, Gorri Pastor successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell José Nafría to make the kick off.
