In the 8thth minute of the game Tome Zubizarreta who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sant Pere AFC's Hernando Gasso was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tome Zubizarreta in the 11th minute of play forced Sant Pere AFC's goalkeeper Hernando Gasso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hipolito Soto struck a weak shot in the 13th minute. Hernando Gasso didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Peñíscola. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Xalbador Marcos during the 15th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 16th minute, Tome Zubizarreta left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Peñíscola fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Peñíscola's Bernabé Ricoy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Florinio Feal in the 20th minute of play. Hipolito Soto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Hernando Gasso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. During the 25th minute of the match Xalbador Marcos completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Xalbador Marcos a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Xalbador Marcos hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. When Xalbador Rua came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Sant Pere AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Xalbador Rua couldn't finish the play. If Hipolito Soto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Peñíscola getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Aldo Acosta hit a great ball. After 45 played minutes Peñíscola got a freekick which was hit by Tome Zubizarreta. After a defensive mix-up in Peñíscola's zone, Xalbador Rua stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bernabé Ricoy came out of the goal and Xalbador Rua tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tome Zubizarreta was the one to do the kick off. Xalbador Rua received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Bernabé Ricoy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Sant Pere AFC's zone, Hipolito Soto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hernando Gasso came out of the goal and Hipolito Soto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hernando Gasso made a fantastic save in the 73rd minute, when Hipolito Soto sent off a good shot on target. Tome Zubizarreta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hernando Gasso having to interfere. The supporters of Sant Pere AFC booed when Peñíscola was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aldo Acosta didn't get a good kick on the ball. Xalbador Rua sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 87 minutes into the match, Peñíscola's goal looked a bit too open when Xalbador Rua came free, but Bernabé Ricoy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tome Zubizarreta charged in rather forcefully in the 88th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tome Zubizarreta the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Sant Pere AFC booed when Peñíscola was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tome Zubizarreta didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hernando Gasso made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hipolito Soto in the 89th minute.
