In the 13th minute Luis Verdeja shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Antonio Iniesta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 14 minutes, Luis Verdeja managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cabanyes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luis Verdeja was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ioseba Bartumeu struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Antonio Iniesta didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cabanyes. If Fidel Puyol had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Raymond Zárate was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Luis Verdeja had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Antonio Iniesta. Montjoi FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luis Verdeja was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Isidro Domenech charged in rather forcefully in the 64th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The supporters of Montjoi FC booed when Cabanyes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Geremia Manzano didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Cabanyes supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Cabanyes would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
