Benet Castelao fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arximiro Machado having to interfere. Aztegieta FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 9th match minute, Aztegieta FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Imanol Sabina to maneuver through the defense. Arximiro Machado acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 11th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Hermenegildo Zárate. 13 minutes into the game, one of Sant Bartolomeu:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee showed Imanol Sabina the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 21st match minute, Aztegieta FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Imanol Sabina to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Aztegieta FC's zone, Benet Castelao stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arximiro Machado came out of the goal and Benet Castelao tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Tristan Mayol came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Sant Bartolomeu fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tristan Mayol couldn't finish the play. Eliu Riells hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. The long shot by Hermenegildo Zárate in the 29th minute really tested Arximiro Machado's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tristan Mayol got free with Arximiro Machado in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Arximiro Machado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benet Castelao in the 31st minute of play. Sant Bartolomeu's Máximo Cambero played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Freddy Quijana in the 35th minute of play. 40 minutes into the match, Tristan Mayol had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Arximiro Machado. Aztegieta FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tristan Mayol was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
In the 52nd minute, Benet Castelao left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sant Bartolomeu fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Benet Castelao's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Arximiro Machado read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 57th minute of play. Máximo Cambero made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fix Rosas in the 89th minute. 91 minutes into the match, Sant Bartolomeu's goal looked a bit too open when Freddy Quijana came free, but Máximo Cambero reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Aztegieta FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
