In the 10th minute, Dimo Colillas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 12th minute Millano Labarra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Goren Moya saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Antonio Mezquita in the 26th minute of play forced San Sebastián's goalkeeper Uriel Babia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 38 minutes into the match, Millano Labarra dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Goren Moya, 3-0. The San Sebastián fans' excitement grew in the 42nd match minute when San Sebastián's Anatolio Mala looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Los Cabezudos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mingo Ledo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Uriel Babia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antonio Mezquita in the 55th minute of play. When Arias Llorente fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored San Sebastián's protests and gave Arias Llorente a yellow card for diving instead. When the match had gone on for 69 minutes, Anatolio Mala put it in 5-0 from a short distance just to the right of Goren Moya.
