The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 16 played minutes, Rentería's Emesto Infante shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Alejandro Carreira came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Rentería reached it. After a defensive mix-up in Rentería's zone, Paulo Laredo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Maximiano Llinares came out of the goal and Paulo Laredo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Gil Reina fell near the penalty area in the 25th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Polinyà FC's protests and gave Gil Reina a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Rentería booed when Polinyà FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gil Reina didn't get a good kick on the ball. Maximiano Llinares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulo Laredo in the 29th minute of play. In the 31st minute of the match, Laurgain Rojas tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Alejandro Carreira saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Maximiano Llinares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paulo Laredo in the 35th minute of the match. Paulo Laredo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Maximiano Llinares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Emeterio Rey was the one to do the kick off. Rentería's Maximiano Llinares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emeterio Rey in the 68th minute of play. Maximiano Llinares was out of position in the 73 minute of play, and Emeterio Rey capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Emeterio Rey really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. Cristofer Merino hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emeterio Rey in the 79th minute of play forced Rentería's goalkeeper Maximiano Llinares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Emeterio Rey sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Maximiano Llinares didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Paulo Laredo went, in the 83rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. 90 minutes into the match, Polinyà FC's goal looked a bit too open when Laurgain Rojas came free, but Alejandro Carreira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Adán Echeto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alejandro Carreira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Laurgain Rojas, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. Alejandro Carreira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Laurgain Rojas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Polinyà FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Polinyà FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
