Ponciano Sobrado's late challenge caught a Jaén's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Frodo Titos during the 41st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. If Frodo Titos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jacques Estruch in the 47th minute of play forced San Pedro De Alcantara FC's goalkeeper Zumar Cabada to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Lain Torrent was shown his second yellow card after 53 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. 58 minutes into the match, Jaén's goalkeeper Noé Rallo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Quique Jareño. If Quique Jareño had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
