In a very dangerous position, a player in San Sebastián fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 3rd minute. Penalty! In the 5th minute there was a penalty for Lifa. Rainerio Canyelles stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Luis-Javier Castro. 0-1. Eleodoro Gomar might have been able to make a better finish in the 8th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luis-Javier Castro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eleodoro Gomar ran back to his position shaking his head. 10 minutes into the game, Nicolao Negro recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Bernardino Maroto. Nicolao Negro showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. In the 14th minute of the match Lonzo Valerón sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Luis-Javier Castro skillfully saved the ball. 16 minutes into the match, San Sebastián's Anchel Andres sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Bernardino Maroto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Eleodoro Gomar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nicolao Negro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lifa's Tato Irureta got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ronaldo Ortega sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 38th minute, Ronaldo Ortega got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Lifa's Ronaldo Ortega got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nicolao Negro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 48th minute, Anchel Andres managed to get in a good position for a shot. San Sebastián's supporters rose to their feet, but Anchel Andres was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bernardino Maroto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nicolao Negro to strike the kick off in the second half. Anchel Andres might have been able to make a better finish in the 56th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bernardino Maroto. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Anchel Andres ran back to his position shaking his head. When Nicolao Negro came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the San Sebastián fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nicolao Negro couldn't finish the play. Bernardino Maroto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicolao Negro in the 70th minute of play. In the 76th match minute, San Sebastián was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Benedicto Iglesias to maneuver through the defense. Luis-Javier Castro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ronaldo Ortega, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Eleodoro Gomar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lifa's supporters rose to their feet, but Eleodoro Gomar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luis-Javier Castro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a little luck, San Sebastián's Luis-Javier Castro got control of the ball when Eleodoro Gomar tried to sneak it across the goal line. Bernardino Maroto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nicolao Negro, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. If Nicolao Negro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 96 minutes into the match, Anchel Andres had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Bernardino Maroto. Lifa's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Anchel Andres was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1.
