The audience thought a goal was coming when Ximo Ballesteros got free with Luis Doblas in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Bartolo Santos came free with the goalkeeper in the 44th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Luis Doblas could save by the left post.

Luis Doblas stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Bartolo Santos's shot from short distance in the 57th minute. Luis Doblas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ximo Ballesteros, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Justo Urbina hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. After 66 played minutes, Girón AFC's Xulio Iniesta shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Luis Doblas came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Girón AFC reached it. Ximo Ballesteros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Silvestre Gil recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Justo Urbina might have been able to make a better finish in the 78th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Juan-Luis Mangas. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Justo Urbina ran back to his position shaking his head. If Bartolo Santos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Mendebal Macías managed to get in a good position for a shot. Petrés's supporters rose to their feet, but Mendebal Macías was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Juan-Luis Mangas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ximo Ballesteros in the 96th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luis Doblas saved Petrés from getting behind. In the 98th minute, Silvestre Gil left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Petrés fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
