Espanyol's Nicasio Camara played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Malvin Pais in the 3rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, RCD. Espanyol's Etxave Velazquez got a free kick in the 3rd minute. Locaio Olano was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 12th minute. RCD. Espanyol's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. A hard shot by Gonza Bouzon from long distance, 16 minutes into the match, got Lonzo Urquijo's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Lonzo Urquijo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Locaio Olano, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Locaio Olano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lonzo Urquijo made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when Selmo Hidalgo sent off a good shot on target. Anartz Gabas kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. With a little luck, Maracena's Lonzo Urquijo got control of the ball when Selmo Hidalgo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Locaio Olano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Feliu Quintana charged in rather forcefully in the 35th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Feliu Quintana the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Maracena getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Feliu Quintana hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Locaio Olano's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lonzo Urquijo was relentless in the 39th minute of the game. Malvin Pais received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Nicasio Camara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 46th minute, Locaio Olano reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Lonzo Urquijo. The goal made the score 1-0.

RCD. Espanyol's Nicasio Camara proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to save RCD. Espanyol from getting a goal against them. Malvin Pais sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Maracena's zone, Locaio Olano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lonzo Urquijo came out of the goal and Locaio Olano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of RCD. Espanyol booed when Maracena was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anartz Gabas didn't get a good kick on the ball. During the 68th minute of the match Feliu Quintana completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Feliu Quintana a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 69th minute, Feliu Quintana hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Desiderio Mondejar took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 70th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Lonzo Urquijo. Maracena's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After 70 played minutes Maracena got a freekick which was hit by Tino Quiroga. Locaio Olano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lonzo Urquijo having to interfere. 85 minutes into the game, Anartz Gabas was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Maracena's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave RCD. Espanyol the free kick. Anartz Gabas kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. RCD. Espanyol's Selmo Hidalgo got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 93 played minutes RCD. Espanyol got a freekick which was hit by Iñaki Novo.
