After 12 played minutes, Gistain CD's Atilano Villar shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Porfiro Rey came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Gistain CD reached it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rubén Vacas in the 14th minute of play forced ZORROZA FC's goalkeeper Porfiro Rey to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tebaldo Zubiaga could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Placido Iniesta made a huge save. After 19 minutes, Zabulón Casero mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gistain CD and the ZORROZA FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Zabulón Casero hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. ZORROZA FC's Porfiro Rey played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Amado Villanueva in the 24th minute of play. Porfiro Rey didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Rubén Vacas went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. When Ugaitz Negro fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored ZORROZA FC's protests and gave Ugaitz Negro a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Gistain CD booed when ZORROZA FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ugaitz Negro didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 43 played minutes Gistain CD got a freekick which was hit by Ubaldo Jurado. ZORROZA FC's supporters stood up full of expectation in the 45th minute of the game, when Demetrio Alarcon after an extraordinary solo performance found himself with a golden opportunity in front of Gistain CD's goal. Demetrio Alarcon was unfortunally a little to anxious and the ball went outside the goal. Tebaldo Zubiaga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Placido Iniesta having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When Amado Villanueva came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Gistain CD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Amado Villanueva couldn't finish the play. Tebaldo Zubiaga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Placido Iniesta having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Gistain CD's zone, Tebaldo Zubiaga stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Placido Iniesta came out of the goal and Tebaldo Zubiaga tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 64th minute, Zigor Leon got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 65th minute, Amado Villanueva got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Placido Iniesta showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Antonio Abrego in the 67th minute of the match.
