Inge Gonzalez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Leizarraga Ladra managed to get in a good position for a shot. Poveda De La Obispalia UD's supporters rose to their feet, but Leizarraga Ladra was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Inge Gonzalez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Cesario Bargas kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in El Zorongo's zone, Nerio Mata stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Inge Gonzalez came out of the goal and Nerio Mata tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Inge Gonzalez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nerio Mata in the 25th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gaspar Solana in the 26th minute of play forced Poveda De La Obispalia UD's goalkeeper Jorge Diaz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 1-0 became the score in the 28th minute when Gaspar Solana elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. If Gaspar Solana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nerio Mata to make the kick off. Naldo Nafría hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Poveda De La Obispalia UD's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag.
