Egun Belalcaraz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Peyo Castelao in the 8th minute of play. In the 11th minute Faustino Incera shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Urtun Orbiz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Peyo Castelao was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 16th minute. Salamanca's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. When Colon Mayor came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Penarrubia AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Colon Mayor couldn't finish the play. Faustino Incera struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Urtun Orbiz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Penarrubia AFC. If Edilberto Valdés had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Faustino Incera fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Urtun Orbiz having to interfere. In the 28th match minute, Salamanca was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Domeka Jaraba to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 32 minutes, Peyo Castelao managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Salamanca's supporters crossed their fingers, but Peyo Castelao was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Edilberto Valdés struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Egun Belalcaraz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Salamanca. Egun Belalcaraz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Peyo Castelao, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. Urtun Orbiz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Colon Mayor, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Edilberto Valdés had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

Colon Mayor received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Urtun Orbiz came out and tried to block the shot, but Colon Mayor slotted it home off the left post making it 0-1 in the 54th minute. In the 64th minute the ball was on its way in behind Salamanca's goalkeeper Urtun Orbiz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Salamanca's Peyo Castelao got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 75 minutes into the game, Txema Castellano was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Salamanca's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Penarrubia AFC the free kick. 75 minutes into the game, one of Salamanca:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. When the match had been going on for 77 minutes, Penarrubia AFC's Hondo Reyes got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Urtun Orbiz. An unexpectedly hard shot by Colon Mayor in the 91st minute of play forced Salamanca's goalkeeper Urtun Orbiz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Faustino Incera managed to get in a good position for a shot. Penarrubia AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Faustino Incera was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Urtun Orbiz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 93rd minute, Colon Mayor got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Egun Belalcaraz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Edilberto Valdés's shot from short distance in the 99th minute.
