The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Medina Azahara AFC's Toribio Prats played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristos Clemente in the 33rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Medina Azahara AFC's zone, Cristos Clemente stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Toribio Prats came out of the goal and Cristos Clemente tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Gonzo Andres fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Galifa AFC's protests and gave Gonzo Andres a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 44th minute of the game. One of Galifa AFC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Medina Azahara AFC:s goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Norberto Reina made a kick off. In a very dangerous position, a player in Medina Azahara AFC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 51st minute. Penalty! Toribio Prats showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristos Clemente, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. 62 minutes into the match, Galifa AFC's Gonzo Andres sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Toribio Prats narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Bernat Cambero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 71st minute, Jorge Cienfuegos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 73 minutes into the match, Medina Azahara AFC's Bernat Cambero sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gartzea Velazquez narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Gartzea Velazquez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Norberto Reina in the 78th minute of play. With a little luck, Galifa AFC's Gartzea Velazquez got control of the ball when Bernat Cambero tried to sneak it across the goal line. 82 minutes into the match, Bernat Cambero had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gartzea Velazquez. Galifa AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Bernat Cambero was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Jesús Abad's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Toribio Prats read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. A collision led to Galifa AFC getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Teodoro Garrido hit a great ball. The Medina Azahara AFC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
