Xabier Moreira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Enrique Gómez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 33rd minute, Esdras Marin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 35 minutes into the match, Pirates FC's goal looked a bit too open when Xanti Garrido came free, but Ramiro Cortes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Karlo Garate in the 47th minute of play forced Clares's goalkeeper Enrique Gómez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Xanti Garrido to make the kick off. When Cilio Infante fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pirates FC's protests and gave Cilio Infante a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Pirates FC's Cilio Infante got a free kick in the 51st minute. In the 89th minute the ball was on its way in behind Pirates FC's goalkeeper Ramiro Cortes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.
