Vladimir Barrientos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sancho Ribeiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Sancho Ribeiro might have been able to make a better finish in the 44th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Vladimir Barrientos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sancho Ribeiro ran back to his position shaking his head. After some careless play in the Mardy Bum defense, Reno Moreno kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Vladimir Barrientos. The Mardy Bum fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vladimir Barrientos should have stopped the shot. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half.
