The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Honorio Sánchez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Alejandro Morera managed to get in a good position for a shot. Valmayor AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Alejandro Morera was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jacobo Barro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Rosario Barro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Honorio Sánchez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Aranguiz's Jacobo Barro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Honorio Sánchez in the 24th minute of play. Valmayor AFC's Alejandro Morera got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Honorio Sánchez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Jacobo Barro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jacobo Barro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Honorio Sánchez in the 37th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Aranguiz's zone, Alejandro Morera stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jacobo Barro came out of the goal and Alejandro Morera tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Aranguiz's Guillerme Elguero got a free kick in the 44th minute. Jacobo Barro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alejandro Morera, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alejandro Morera to make the kick off. Alejandro Morera fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacobo Barro having to interfere. 54 minutes into the game, Guillerme Elguero was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Aranguiz's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Valmayor AFC the free kick. In the 55th minute, Elvio Zubizarreta sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Aranguiz's Jacobo Barro didn't even have to move. If Rosario Barro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 58 played minutes Valmayor AFC got a freekick which was hit by Erasto Ziguenza. If Alejandro Morera had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Honorio Sánchez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jacobo Barro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alejandro Morera's shot from short distance in the 65th minute. 67 minutes into the game, Valmayor AFC's Baleren Arraz nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jacobo Barro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. 72 minutes into the match, Valmayor AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Bertol Quintanilla came free, but Joseba Bencoiechea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jacobo Barro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alejandro Morera, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Alejandro Morera came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Valmayor AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alejandro Morera couldn't finish the play. 89 minutes into the match, Aranguiz's goalkeeper Jacobo Barro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Honorio Sánchez.
