Athletic de Bilbao's supporters rose to their feet, but Gustavo Mendez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Freddy Santiago breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gonzalo Ecija could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but Haimar Izaguirre made a huge save. Isaac Verdeja's late challenge caught a Calldetenes FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Isaac Verdeja helped the player get up and apologised. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

53 minutes into the game, Fidencio Hevia cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Haimar Izaguirre was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Haimar Izaguirre took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gonzalo Ecija, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Gonzalo Ecija managed to get in a good position for a shot. Calldetenes FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Gonzalo Ecija was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. After 86 played minutes Athletic de Bilbao got a freekick which was hit by Carmelo Pastor. 88 minutes into the match, Fidencio Hevia notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Athletic de Bilbao's Haimar Izaguirre. Haimar Izaguirre was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gustavo Mendez got free with Freddy Santiago in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
