The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Juan Acarreta kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. In the 26th minute of the game Demesio Calvo made a throw-in which Antonio Alacuart played forward. In the 28th minute Godofredo Abajas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ramón Alonso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ramón Alonso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antolin Losada in the 29th minute of play. Garcilaso Fernandez was extremely unlucky when he, in the 31st minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. After a defensive mix-up in Liñarejos's zone, Teo Quintero stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nicasio Andres came out of the goal and Teo Quintero tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Garcilaso Fernandez blasted a shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nicasio Andres having to make a save. A collision led to Gran Canaria getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Agapito Sarrate hit a great ball.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Garcilaso Fernandez stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 52 minutes of play, Liñarejos's Michel Rubio made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ramón Alonso was left in no man's land by his defense there! Gran Canaria's Juan Acarreta quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Apat Zurica, made in the 55th minute of the game. The supporters of Liñarejos booed when Gran Canaria was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juan Acarreta didn't get a good kick on the ball. 64 minutes into the match, Gran Canaria's goal looked a bit too open when Antonio Alacuart came free, but Ramón Alonso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With an all-out effort, Liñarejos's Ramón Alonso threw himself towards the right post 69 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Antonio Alacuart, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Toli Bellido took the ball and in the 71 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nicasio Andres. Nicasio Andres dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Nicasio Andres showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Garcilaso Fernandez in the 78th minute of the match. Juan Acarreta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicasio Andres having to interfere. 83 minutes into the match, Liñarejos's goal looked a bit too open when Garcilaso Fernandez came free, but Nicasio Andres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gran Canaria's Garcilaso Fernandez got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nicasio Andres took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Garcilaso Fernandez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 94th minute of the game Valentín Serra made a throw-in which Demesio Calvo played forward. Despite being the better team, Gran Canaria failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
