Oliviero Acha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Natalio Toledo having to interfere. In the 13th minute Justino Aizpurua shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Amado Arenas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Derwin Teresa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Natalio Toledo was relentless in the 20th minute of the game. After 24 minutes, Oliviero Acha mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Nubledo and the Rayo astur players grew even worse after the yellow card. Oliviero Acha hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Justino Aizpurua sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 28th minute Almarín Bergada shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Natalio Toledo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Amado Arenas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andoni Antunez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Amado Arenas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Justino Aizpurua in the 31st minute of the match. Rayo astur's Andoni Antunez got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 34 minutes, Oliviero Acha managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Nubledo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Oliviero Acha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 37 minutes into the match, Rayo astur's goal looked a bit too open when Oliviero Acha came free, but Natalio Toledo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Oliviero Acha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Natalio Toledo having to interfere. Oliviero Acha recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Andoni Antunez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Amado Arenas having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Oliviero Acha made a kick off. In the 52nd match minute, Nubledo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Derwin Teresa to maneuver through the defense. 55 minutes into the match, Nubledo's goalkeeper Amado Arenas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Andoni Antunez. In the 57thth minute of the game Oliviero Acha who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Rayo astur's Natalio Toledo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With an all-out effort, Rayo astur's Amado Arenas threw himself towards the right post 67 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Mel Molina, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. When Cesareo Garate fell near the penalty area in the 67th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Nubledo's protests and gave Cesareo Garate a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Nubledo getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Cesareo Garate hit a great ball. Natalio Toledo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Oliviero Acha in the 72nd minute of the match. Oliviero Acha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Natalio Toledo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Almarín Bergada's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Natalio Toledo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 77th minute of play. If Oliviero Acha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Oliviero Acha might have been able to make a better finish in the 81st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Natalio Toledo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Oliviero Acha ran back to his position shaking his head. 84 minutes into the match, Mel Molina notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Nubledo's Amado Arenas. Amado Arenas was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 86 played minutes Nubledo got a freekick which was hit by Oliviero Acha. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mel Molina in the 89th minute of play forced Nubledo's goalkeeper Amado Arenas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Andoni Antunez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Amado Arenas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Rayo astur walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
