Spectators: 33 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Bilbao FC's Taurino Pardo started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Rayo astur's goalkeeper Natalio Toledo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bladi Vazquez. Justo Huarte stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Andoni Antunez's shot from short distance in the 5th minute. Andoni Antunez struck a weak shot in the 13th minute. Justo Huarte didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rayo astur. Rayo astur's Natalio Toledo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save Rayo astur from getting a goal against them. In the 19th minute, Benjamin Coya hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Justo Huarte took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Justino Aizpurua, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Rayo astur booed when Bilbao FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aquiles Mayol didn't get a good kick on the ball. Perrando Morcego's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Justo Huarte read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. Justo Huarte stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Justino Aizpurua's shot from short distance in the 29th minute. 31 minutes into the match, Bilbao FC's goal looked a bit too open when Justino Aizpurua came free, but Justo Huarte reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Justino Aizpurua fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Justo Huarte having to interfere. Andoni Antunez might have been able to make a better finish in the 36th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Justo Huarte. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Andoni Antunez ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 37th minute, Justino Aizpurua left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Rayo astur fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Justo Huarte took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Perrando Morcego, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Aureo Blanco's late challenge caught a Rayo astur's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Aureo Blanco helped the player get up and apologised. Aureo Blanco kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Justino Aizpurua made the kick off in the second half. Rayo astur's Natalio Toledo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Taurino Pardo in the 52nd minute of play. In the 55th match minute, Rayo astur was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Andoni Antunez to maneuver through the defense. Justo Huarte made an important save on a dangerous shot by Andoni Antunez in the 59th minute. Taurino Pardo took the ball and in the 69 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Natalio Toledo. Natalio Toledo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. In the 74th minute, Rayo astur's Justino Aizpurua ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Justo Huarte. Justo Huarte yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. Andoni Antunez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Justo Huarte tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Justo Huarte made an important save on a dangerous shot by Andoni Antunez in the 84th minute. Justo Huarte stood somewhat misplaced when Justino Aizpurua came free in front of goal and shot 2-3 to the left of him in the 87 minute. After having played for 95 minutes, Andoni Antunez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rayo astur's supporters crossed their fingers, but Andoni Antunez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rayo astur's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
