Jose-Enrique Cifuentes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Romualdo Merino in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jose-Enrique Cifuentes saved Sant Celoni FC from getting behind. Jose-Enrique Cifuentes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Teo Casas in the 18th minute of the match. Vicente Ecija made an important save on a dangerous shot by Santos Zubizarreta in the 20th minute. U.D. Patos's Vicente Ecija played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Belasko Aranzubia in the 21st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Teo Casas in the 22nd minute of play forced Sant Celoni FC's goalkeeper Jose-Enrique Cifuentes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 23rdth minute of the game Romualdo Merino who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sant Celoni FC's Jose-Enrique Cifuentes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Teo Casas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Santos Zubizarreta during the 28th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. U.D. Patos made a substitution. Honorato Segarra replaced Primitivo Mayor. In the 29th minute, Santos Zubizarreta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Romualdo Merino was the one to do the kick off. With a little luck, Sant Celoni FC's Jose-Enrique Cifuentes got control of the ball when Teo Casas tried to sneak it across the goal line. 55 minutes into the match, Sant Celoni FC's goalkeeper Jose-Enrique Cifuentes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Teo Casas. 58 minutes into the game, Zumar Bajo recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Jose-Enrique Cifuentes. Zumar Bajo showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-3. After a defensive mix-up in Sant Celoni FC's zone, Honorato Irureta stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jose-Enrique Cifuentes came out of the goal and Honorato Irureta tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Romualdo Merino in the 62nd minute of play forced Sant Celoni FC's goalkeeper Jose-Enrique Cifuentes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Emiliano Acarreta came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the U.D. Patos fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Emiliano Acarreta couldn't finish the play. 65 minutes into the match, Sant Celoni FC's goal looked a bit too open when Zumar Bajo came free, but Jose-Enrique Cifuentes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Romualdo Merino recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Zumar Bajo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jose-Enrique Cifuentes having to interfere. After some careless play in the U.D. Patos defense, Adrián Rico kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Vicente Ecija. The U.D. Patos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vicente Ecija should have stopped the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Belasko Aranzubia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sant Celoni FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Belasko Aranzubia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vicente Ecija breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Aranguiz Borrás fell near the penalty area in the 96th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sant Celoni FC's protests and gave Aranguiz Borrás a yellow card for diving instead. When the match was over U.D. Patos could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Sant Celoni FC throughout the match.
