Punto Fijo's supporters rose to their feet, but Rogelio Avila was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Antxoka Saboya breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Mahoma Galnares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Belisario Ruiz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rosalio Zapata read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. If Oxel Elguero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Punto Fijo's Rosalio Zapata got control of the ball when Belisario Ruiz tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 31st minute, Mahoma Galnares fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. If Belisario Ruiz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kiko Grau hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Mahoma Galnares received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Rosalio Zapata came out and tried to block the shot, but Mahoma Galnares slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 41st minute. If Belisario Ruiz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Belisario Ruiz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Rogelio Avila stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Rosalio Zapata made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Belisario Ruiz in the 55th minute of play. Rosalio Zapata took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Belisario Ruiz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rogelio Avila in the 60th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Antxoka Saboya saved Doniños UD from getting behind. The audience was convinced that Mahoma Galnares's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rosalio Zapata was relentless in the 66th minute of the game. Doniños UD's Belisario Ruiz got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Rosalio Zapata took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mahoma Galnares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 78 minutes into the match, Oxel Elguero notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Doniños UD's Antxoka Saboya. Antxoka Saboya was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Belisario Ruiz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute.
